TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays placed shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a right quadriceps strain and activated left-hander Aaron Loup from the 15-day DL.

Tulowitzki has been nursing a sore quad over the last few days. He's batting .204 this season with eight homers and 23 RBIs.

Loup, meanwhile, had been out since suffering a forearm flexor strain at spring training. He began a rehab assignment on May 15.

Loup had a 4.46 earned-run average with 46 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings last season.
