INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cavaliers forward Kevin Love will likely miss the remainder of the post-season with "extensive" damage to his left shoulder.

Cavs general manager David Griffin said Tuesday the team is not expecting Love to return in the playoffs, one day after Cleveland announced Love would miss at least the next playoff series.

Love was injured in Sunday's series-sweeping win over Boston when he got tangled with Celtics centre Kelly Olynyk while chasing a loose ball.

Griffin said it would be a "real surprise" if Love was able to participate in the post-season.

Love may need surgery and Griffin said he is still getting medical opinions.

Olynyk was suspended one game by the NBA. Griffin said he was sickened that "a non-basketball play resulted in what it did."

Griffin is confident the team can overcome losing Love after dealing with adversity all season.
