WINNIPEG -- A.J. Jefferson returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown to spark the Toronto Argonauts to their fifth come-from-behind win this season with a 27-20 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday.

The Argonauts (5-2) were down 17-14 heading into the fourth quarter when Jefferson took Lirim Hajrullahu's punt and weaved down the field for the major at 3:44 to give the Argos their first lead.

On the following series, Bombers quarterback Robert Marve, making his first pro start, completed a pass to Rory Kohlert, but he fumbled and the ball was recovered by defensive end Ricky Foley.

Toronto took over at Winnipeg's 43-yard line and put together a nine-play, 43-yard drive, including a third-and-one gamble, that ended with Tori Gurley holding onto a five-yard pass from Trevor Harris in the end zone at 10:26.

Argos kicker Ronnie Pfeffer hit the post on his convert attempt and the score stayed at 27-20.

Winnipeg had two possessions to try to retake the lead, but Marve couldn't pull off any magic with his feet or his arm and turned the ball over on downs with 24 seconds left.

Pfeffer booted field goals from 31 and 44 yards and got a single off a missed 41-yard attempt. He was good on his other convert attempt after a Diante Spencer five-yard TD reception in the first quarter.

Harris completed 18-of-24 pass attempts for 168 yards with no interceptions and two touchdowns.

Marve, who was replacing Drew Willy (knee) and had got the start ahead of usual backup Brian Brohm, was 18-of-29 for 203 yards with one interception and one TD. He also ran seven times for 37 yards.

His dad, Eugene Marve, a former NFL linebacker, was in the crowd of 27,246 at Investors Group Field celebrating his birthday by watching his son.

Hajrullahu booted four field goals from 25 and 46 yards and a pair from 53 yards. He also missed a convert attempt after running back Cameron Marshall's 56-yard, catch-and-run TD.

Winnipeg got a safety when Harris was sacked in the end zone by defensive tackle Jake Thomas.

The Bombers led 9-7 after the first quarter and 15-13 at the break.

Marve was cheered by a crowd after the game's opening 10-play, 67-yard drive, which ended with Hajrullahu's 25-yarder at 4:49.

His first drive included his quick feet. He had a 12-yard scramble on second and 10, an eight-yard TD run that was cancelled by a Bomber penalty and an overthrown pass to a wide-open Nick Moore.

Toronto did nothing on its first drive and the Bombers responded with Marve flinging a short pass to Marshall, who scampered more than 45 yards during his 56-yard TD run at 8:16.

Hajrullahu missed the convert and Winnipeg was ahead 9-0.

Spencer capped off an 11-play, 77-yard drive with his five-yard TD catch in the end zone as time expired on the first quarter to make it 9-7 with Pfeffer's convert.

Argos running back Chad Kackert, playing in his first game since October 2013, helped set up the score with 28 yards rushing, including 10 to get the Argos to the five-yard line.

The 2012 Grey Cup most valuable player, who was injured and then retired, finished the game with 12 carries for 73 yards.
