HAMILTON, Ont. - Spencer Abbott scored the winner in 3-on-3 overtime and added an assist in regulation as the Toronto Marlies slipped past the host Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 on Friday in American Hockey League action.

Abbott's winner came at 5:31 of the extra period after four minutes of 4-on-4 hockey solved nothing.

Patrick Watling and Josh Leivo also scored for the Marlies (2-1-1), who got a 29-save performance from Antoine Bibeau.

Michael Bournival and Sven Andrighetto supplied the offence for the Bulldogs (1-0-1) while Charles Hudon picked up an assist on both goals.

Hamilton's Joey MacDonald stopped 26-of-29 shots in a losing cause.

Toronto went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Bulldogs scored once on three chances with the man advantage.
