LAS VEGAS -- UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos has a broken foot that will force him out of his bout with Conor McGregor at UFC 196 on March 5, according to Brazilian media reports.

Globo reported Dos Anjos' injury Tuesday. The UFC didn't immediately confirm the cancellation of its main event for UFC 196.

Dos Anjos (24-7) was scheduled to defend his 155-pound belt against McGregor, the dynamic Irish 145-pound champion planning to hold two titles simultaneously.

McGregor (19-2) needed only 13 seconds last December to win his belt by knocking out Brazil's Jose Aldo, whose matchup with McGregor also was delayed by injury.

Dos Anjos stopped Donald Cerrone in December to defend his belt after an injury absence.

Bantamweight champion Holly Holm also meets Miesha Tate on the UFC 196 card.
