Toronto police have charged a 23-year-old man in connection with a firearm investigation after receiving numerous of reports of a man armed with a gun on the city’s subway system last week.

During a roughly two-hour period late Thursday night and early Friday morning, a man was seen with a gun tucked into his waistband aboard a subway train at St. George Station and as he exited the station on Bedford Street, police said in a news release Monday.

He was later seen loading a magazine into the handgun on the subway at St. George Station, police say.

The sightings on the subway occurred between Thursday shortly before 10:45 p.m. and Friday at 12:20 a.m.

Shortly after, the man was spotted with a gun tucked into the front pocket of his sweatshirt near Christie and Bloor streets.

At 1:20 a.m., the man was seen a final time near Christie Street and Barton Avenue.

In a news release issued late Wednesday afternoon, police said they had made an arrest in connection with the case Tuesday.

The suspect faces charges including six counts of weapons dangerous, threatening death and impersonating a peace officer.

Joshua Pontes, of Toronto, was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
