Toronto rapper Drake has dispelled rumours he and pop superstar Rihanna are dating.

"Just good friends," the 22-year-old, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, said with a smile Sunday on the red carpet at the MuchMusic Video Awards.

Speculation of a romance started after the pair reportedly kissed at a New York City bowling alley.

They were also rumoured to be canoodling at an after-party for the premiere of the film "Year One."

Drake, who is best known for playing Jimmy Brooks on the CTV teen series "Degrassi: The Next Generation," has said he is writing songs for Rihanna.

But neither has said they are an item.

Drake is heading out on tour this summer with Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy and Young Jeezy.

Before that, he says he plans to take a mini-vacation before hitting the road.

"I'm going to the Bahamas in a couple of weeks before the tour," he said. "I'm going with my managers and we're just going to relax for, like, four or five days."

Rihanna, 21, hails from Barbados.

Drake's debut album, "Thank Me Later," is due out later this year.

Rihanna's love life has been under a microscope since her ex, R&B singer Chris Brown, was arrested in February.

Brown faces assault and criminal threat charges for an alleged attack on Rihanna hours before they were scheduled to appear at the Grammy Awards.
