Streetcars are moving again on St. Clair Avenue following a hydro vault fire that knocked out power to several midtown buildings.

At the height of the fire, five trucks and 20 firefighters attended the scene of a blown transformer located between Yonge Street and Avenue Road shortly after 11 a.m., a representative with Toronto Fire Services said.

At one point, flames could be seen shooting 20 feet into the air.

Toronto Hydro confirms that power remains out for five buildings - two on St. Clair Avenue, two on Spadina Road and one on Avenue Road.

The outage forced the evacuation of people trapped in two elevators at 95 St. Clair Ave., Toronto Fire Services said.

No injuries as a result of the fire have been reported.

Toronto Hydro said they hope to have power restored by 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.
