While the calendar may now say September, Mother Nature seems to have missed the message.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the City of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area ahead of high temperatures and humidex values expected to arrive Tuesday.

“Temperatures will climb to the low 30s Tuesday and Wednesday with humidex values reaching 40 to 42,” the weather agency said in a release Monday afternoon.

“There may be a few regions where the high temperatures and humidex will continue into Thursday.”

In Toronto, a high of 32 C is predicted for tomorrow and a high of 33 C on Wednesday.

“Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illness, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion,” Environment Canada said.

Residents are reminded to drink plenty of liquids to avoid dehydration and to check in on any friends or family members who may be especially vulnerable to the heat.
