You can ditch the toque and mittens and maybe even the winter coat as you head out the door today as milder temperatures have finally arrived in Toronto.

After a frigid few months, Environment Canada is forecasting a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 7 C for today, which is several degrees above the seasonal norm of 4 C.

The spring-like conditions won’t dissipate anytime soon either as the weather-agency is forecasting sunny skies and a high of 9 C tomorrow and 8 C on Wednesday.

Thursday will be the coldest day of the week, but with a high of 2 C forecast it will still feel much warmer than the temperatures Torontonians have felt over the last few weeks. The temperature will then hit 7 C on Friday.

The warm conditions come on the heels of a bitter winter, which saw the City of Toronto placed under an extreme cold weather alert a total of 37 times. That compared to 36 extreme cold weather alert days the previous year. 9 in 2011-2012 and 7 in 2010-2011.
