Toronto is in for another cold couple of days before relief arrives later this weekend.

An extreme cold warning has been issued for the city of Toronto, Halton, Peel, York and Durham regions ahead of a big temperature drop coming Thursday night.

Envrionment Canada is calling for a low of -22 C Thursday night with wind chill values that will make it feel closer to -30.

The extreme cold weather alert issued by the city's chief medical officer of health also remains in effect.

The cold weather will persist Friday night, with an expected low of -16 C that will feel more like -30 with the wind chill.

The extended cold snap that has left hundreds without water in the city this month is expected to come to an end this weekend.

While it won’t feel quite like spring, a high of -4 C on Saturday will likely be a welcome change for those fed up with the bitter cold.

Toronto may even see the mercury hit 0 C by mid-week.

The warmer temperatures, however, will likely be accompanied by some snow.
