Unionized workers in Windsor have brought an end to the lengthy city-workers strike.

Workers voted to end the strike, which had dragged on for 101 days and left Windsor without garbage disposal and other municipal services.

The 1,500 union members ratified the contract on Friday afternoon.

It was the second longest strike in Windsor's history.

The new contract includes a $2,000 lump sum payment up front, wage adjustments of 1%, 1.5%, 1.8% and 2% over four years and improvements in job security.

Current city workers and their families are permanently protected with retiree benefits and at the same time, new hires will enjoy employer paid benefits to age 65.
