Two women have been arrested after a 90-year-old man was beaten unconscious and robbed in the city’s east end earlier this month.

Police were called to an apartment building in the Gerrard Street East and Greenwood Avenue area at around 6 a.m. on Nov. 17.

According to police, a woman propped open the door to the apartment building after buzzing the victim, whom she knew, for entry.

A second woman then entered the building through the propped door.

Both women then made their way to the victim’s apartment and, once inside, made a demand for money.

Police say that when the man refused, the women beat him unconscious before fleeing the scene.

On Nov. 23, a suspect identified as 49-year-old Debra Hinsley, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and robbery.

She appeared in court on Nov. 24.

On Nov. 25, a second suspect, 26-year-old Melissa Cooper, was arrested at her home in Renfrew.

She has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery and failure to comply with probation.

She appeared in court on Nov. 28.
