Police in Vaughan say they believe the same man may be behind three sexual assaults that have taken place in Thornhill in the last few weeks.

The suspect is preying on young women in Thornhill Woods and in the Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue area, according to a news release from York Regional Police.

Police were first alerted to the suspect on the afternoon of Nov. 28, when a 15-year-old girl told police she was walking along Thornhill Woods Drive when she was grabbed suddenly by a stranger. After touching her inappropriately, he fled on foot.

The next assault took place two weeks later on Dec. 13 at 7:50 p.m. A 25-year-old woman had just stepped off a TTC bus on Steeles Avenue and was walking northbound on Bathurst Street when a man came up to her from behind and grabbed her sexually.

Then, on Dec. 21, shortly before midnight, a 17-year-old girl was walking in the same area along Bathurst Street when she too was approached from behind and sexually accosted.

None of the victims suffered any physical injuries and all three woman gave police a similar description of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male who is between five-foot-six and five-foot-ten. He has a medium build, dark hair and was wearing dark-coloured clothing.
