A second man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the city’s first homicide of 2012.

On Jan. 1, at around 4 a.m., officers found 20-year-old Jamahl Franklin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on Hupfield Trail in Scarborough.

On Jan. 5, 22-year-old Baptists Bermier of Toronto was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Franklin’s death.

At approximately 8 a.m. on Wednesday, police arrested 23-year-old Mauro Granados-Arana who was already in custody on an unrelated matter.

He is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the case.

Police say Granados-Arana appeared in court on Wednesday.
