Reports have emerged on Tuesday that TTC Chairman and councillor Adam Giambrone is poised to step away from municipal politics.

A report in the Toronto Star says Giambrone will quit municipal politics as his executive assistant Kevin Beaulieu prepares to announce he's ready to run for the elected office in Ward 18.

According to the newspaper, a reporter called Beaulieu congratulating him on his decision to enter the race. Beaulieu replied by saying "Thank you, I'm not ready to confirm this at this point, but obviously it's a logical sequence of events."

Attempts to contact Beaulieu and Giambrone by CP24 have not been returned.

Earlier this year, Giambrone announced he would run for the mayor's seat, but those plans imploded after he admitted to multiple affairs.

To date, Giambrone has not registered to run in the October 25th municipal election.
