LONGEUEIL, Que. - Canada's two history-making astronauts have made their first public appearance together from space.

Julie Payette and Robert Thirsk, the first two Canadians to be together in space, are on a joint mission at the International Space Station.

They appeared on a live video feed from space, taking questions from Gary Goodyear, Canada's minister of state for science and technology.

Payette's last trip to the space station was 10 years ago when it was still being built and she says the progress since then is very impressive.

Payette arrived at the station Friday as a crew member of the space shuttle Endeavour.

Thirsk, who arrived at the station last month aboard a Soyuz spacecraft launched from Russia, is on an extended six-month mission.
