Peel police have arrested a young teen in connection with a violent sexual assault on a 51-year-old Brampton woman.

Police say the public played a crucial role in identifying a suspect after authorities released a composite sketch yesterday of a man wanted for the assault.

The suspect, who can't be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is 15 years old.

The victim was attacked on the afternoon of Dec. 19 as she walked her bike along a pathway at Max Rice Community Park, near Ray Lawson Boulevard and McLaughlin Road.

A man approached her from behind and dragged her into a secluded area where she was violently attacked.

The teenaged suspect is being held in police custody until his bail hearing.
