Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird has condemned Friday's terrorist attacks in Norway, calling it a "big tragedy."

He says he will speak to his Norwegian counterpart later today to offer condolences and support.

At least 91 people were killed in the twin attacks, in downtown Oslo and at a camp for young leaders on a nearby island.

A Norwegian man suspected of carrying out both attacks is in custody and authorities say he is keen to tell his story.

Baird was speaking from Bali, Indonesia, where he attended a regional security forum this week.

His comments follow a statement by Prime Minister Stephen Harper that he was "shocked and intensely saddened" by the attacks
