LONDON - David Haye has blamed Dereck Chisora for instigating the brawl between the pair that followed his fellow heavyweight's loss to WBC champion Vitali Klitschko.

Haye says Chisora "caused a serious disturbance to occur, something which threatened to damage the reputation of the sport we both love."

Haye added that he was "bitterly disappointed" over his part in the brawl but did not apologize.

Haye is wanted for questioning by German police over the incident, but confirmed he left the country early Sunday morning.

British boxing's governing body has opened an investigation into Chisora's conduct in connection to Saturday's title bout in Munich but cannot take action against Haye because the Londoner retired last year after a defeat to Klitschko's younger brother, Wladimir.
