ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Rocker Bryan Adams has been handed a humanitarian award to recognize his fundraising and awareness efforts.

The Allan Waters Humanitarian Award will be given to Adams during the Juno Awards broadcast on April 18 on CTV.

The honour was announced today, in addition to other news surrounding this year's Juno week events in St. John's, N.L.

The 39th annual awards and related activities run April 12-18 in the Newfoundland capital.

Adams has been at the forefront of a number of fundraising and social awareness events over the years.

The Waters award, named after CHUM Ltd. founder Allan Waters, recognizes an outstanding Canadian artist for humanitarian contributions.
