A thick chunk of concrete has fallen from the Gardiner Expressway at Lower Simcoe and Lake Shore Boulevard.

This is the third time chunks of concrete have fallen from the busy highway this past month.

No one was injured when the large slab fell to the ground and shattered in pieces.

Toronto police are on the scene and monitoring the situation.

Late last week, the city announced they would be spending between $10 million and $15 million to conduct major repairs on the expressway.

The city's public works committee released a report last week which found that the Gardiner was structurally sound but suffered serious damage as a result of water and salt treatments.
