Toronto Hydro is working to restore electricity to about 1,000 customers in the St. Clair and Wychwood area.

As a result of the outage, classes at Oakwood Collegiate Institute have been cancelled for the day.

The St. Clair Avenue school is one of several buildings that has been without heat and electricity since midnight.

The TDSB expects classes at Oakwood Collegiate to resume Wednesday.

Minor delays are occurring on the 512 St. Clair streetcar line, the TTC says.

Toronto Hydro says the outage was caused by an equipment failure and is affecting customers on St. Clair between Boon and Wychwood avenues.

There is no word when the power will be restored.
