ORANGEVILLE, Ont. - The court case of Rahim Jaffer, the former Conservative MP from Alberta featured in anti-drug campaign ads, has been put off until Nov. 16.

Jaffer, husband of federal Tory cabinet minister Helena Guergis, is facing cocaine possession and drunk driving charges.

Jaffer did not appear in court this morning, but was represented by a paralegal..

He was arrested and charged in the village of Palgrave, north of Toronto, in September.

The 37-year-old Jaffer, was MP for the riding of Edmonton-Strathcona from 1997 until a surprise defeat in last year's election to the NDP's Linda Duncan.
