TORONTO - Luis Contreras has the unofficial Canadian Triple Crown.

Contreras rallied Pender Harbour to a win by a nose in the $500,000 Breeders Stakes turf race Sunday afternoon at Woodbine Racetrack.

Contreras and Pender Harbour, the 2-1 favourite, held off Celtic Conviction to win the 1 1/2-mile event on a soft turf in 2:36.1.

It was a historic win for Contreras, who became the first jockey to win all three Canadian Triple Crown events with two horses.

He captured the Queen's Plate aboard Inglorious before adding the Prince of Wales Stakes and Breeders' Stakes events with Pender Harbour.

Celtic Conviction finished second but was relegated to third for interfering with third-place finisher Crown's Path, which was bumped up to second in the field that was reduced to 13 horses with Queen'splatekitten, the 3-1 early favourite, being scratched.
