A dog will be reunited with its owner after emergency crews rescued the furry four-legged pet from the Humber River early Tuesday afternoon.

CP24 broadcasted the rescue live just after 1 p.m. as a member of the Marine Unit ventured out on the broken ice surface while Chopper 24 filmed the rescue live.

The dog fell through the ice at least once as crews ventured to save it.

The pet appeared calm as rescuers approached the dog and brought it back to the shore, where it joined another dog.

A CP24 viewer reported he was missing his dog after his van was stolen on Front St. near Yonge St. The viewer said his German Sheppard mix 'Lady' was in the vehicle at the time.

Police say the rescued dog was not Lady.
