PARRY SOUND, Ont. - Provincial police say a Toronto woman who refused a life-jacket drowned in cottage country.

Police say a woman swimming near an island on Georgian Bay on Sunday night was having difficulty when someone offered her a life-jacket, but she didn't take it.

The woman was found unresponsive in the water a short time later.

Regna Bersenas, 67, was pronounced dead at hospital that evening.

An autopsy determined she drowned.

It's the fifth drowning in the Parry Sound area in less than a month.
