The mother of one of the world’s biggest pop stars says her revealing memoir is a chance to give back to people who are going through their own struggles.

Pattie Mallette, mother of Justin Bieber, discussed the memoir during an interview with CP24 on Tuesday afternoon.

Mallette, 37, said she hopes the autobiography – titled “Nowhere but Up” – is a source of encouragement to help people get through tough times.

Writing and rewriting the memoir was a difficult but cathartic process, Mallette said.

In the memoir, Mallette reveals her experience as a teen mom who struggled with drug and alcohol addiction before getting a second chance.

“I want to be relatable so I wanted to be as raw and as real as I could in sharing it,” Mallette said.

Bieber wrote the foreword for the memoir.
