TORONTO - The Toronto International Film Festival kicks off tonight with the time-travelling action drama "Looper."

It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a hitman who is assigned to kill his future self, played by Bruce Willis.

A total of 372 films will unspool during the 11-day festival that's become known for drawing in titles that go on to win Oscars.

Stars expected to attend include Ben Affleck, Ryan Gosling, Robert Redford, Johnny Depp, Joaquin Phoenix, Tom Hanks, Kristen Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Other big films in the lineup include the "The Master," which is said be inspired by Scientology, and Deepa Mehta's adaptation of the Salman Rushdie novel "Midnight's Children."

Also drawing buzz are the films "Argo," "Cloud Atlas," "To the Wonder" and "West of Memphis," among others.
