TORONTO -- Soon-to-be first-time father Michael Buble is undertaking another new challenge: hosting the Juno Awards.
This year's gala is set for April 21 at Regina's Brandt Centre.
The hosting announcement was made via a 30-second promo featuring Buble and new Canadian rock power couple Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne that aired on CTV during the Super Bowl.
Buble, who recently announced that he and his Argentine wife Luisana Lopilato are expecting their first child, certainly knows his way around the show.
The Burnaby, B.C., native has performed on four Juno telecasts and has hauled in a staggering 11 Juno trophies, including album of the year honours for his yuletide smash "Christmas" at the 2012 show in Ottawa.
He's always enjoyed poking fun at his image, appearing in multiple bits on "Saturday Night Live" over the years.
And he's also proven adept at hosting in the past, having headlined multiple Christmas specials for NBC.
"It's a huge honour to be the host of a show that has done so much for Canadian talent, including myself," the 37-year-old said in a statement. "I am going to do my very best to make it a great night."
Added Juno Awards president and CEO Melanie Berry: "I can't wait to see his incredible sense of humour shine!"
Buble follows last year's host, "Star Trek" icon William Shatner, while other recent hosts include Toronto rapper Drake and comedian Russell Peters.
Nominees for this year's Juno Awards will be announced Feb. 19.
Tickets for the live show, to be broadcast on CTV, go on sale later that week and range from $59 to $189, plus taxes and fees.
