TORONTO -- TV star Alan Thicke, music producer Bob Ezrin and soccer star Christine Sinclair are among the homegrown heroes joining Canada's Walk of Fame today.

The latest honorees also include human-rights advocates Craig and Marc Kielburger, actor Victor Garber, and, posthumously, pianist Oscar Peterson and legendary runner and cancer activist Terry Fox.

A gala in their honour takes place today with presenters including past inductees Mike Myers and Martin Short.

Canada's Walk of Fame celebrates Canadians who have excelled in music, sport, film, television, as well as the literary, visual, performing arts, science and innovation.

Inductees' names are engraved on stars, which are then displayed along downtown Toronto corridors King Street West and Simcoe Street.

The gala will be televised Oct. 27 on Global.
