As generative AI and misinformation become increasingly prevalent online, accessing accurate news that matters to you is more important than ever. With Google’s “Preferred Sources” feature, you can tailor your search results to include stories from reputable organizations like CP24.
Made available to Canadians in late 2025, this feature allows you to customize your news experience by selecting which websites feature more prominently in Google search results. “Preferred sources” can only be selected by signing into your Google account.
For top stories covering the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas, including live updates on major events as they unfold, set CP24 as your preferred source.
Below are two ways to update your source preferences — you can use either option. These steps will work whether you’re using a computer or mobile device. Because preferences are linked to your Google account, they should sync across any browser or device, as long as you’re signed in.
OPTION 1
Click here and log into your Google account. Click the checkbox beside CP24, then “Take me to Google Search” to view your preferred sources in action.

OPTION 2
Alternatively, as you’re searching for news on Google, click the star icon beside the “Top Stories” header.

A new window will appear, allowing you to search for CP24. Click the checkbox to add as your preferred source, then click “Reload Results.”

This will ensure CP24 articles are displayed more frequently within “Top Stories” or in a dedicated “From Your Sources” section on Google’s results page.

You will still be able to see content from other outlets, and can adjust your settings at any time.
Additionally, stay informed throughout the day by bookmarking CP24.com and downloading the CP24 App.
