With WorldPride 2014 Toronto celebrations set to reach their peak this weekend, a number of road closures will be in effect around town both Saturday and Sunday. Here’s a list:

Friday

As part of Pride Week and as part of the WorldPride 2014 festival, there will be a street fair in the Church Street and Wellesley Street area starting on Friday and lasting into Monday.

Road closures for the streetfair will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday and end on Monday, June 30, 2014, at 7 a.m.

  • Church Street will be fully closed to all vehicular traffic from the north side of Carlton Street to the south side of Hayden Street.
  • Wellesley Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from the east side of Yonge Street to Jarvis Street.

TTC buses will not have access to Wellesley subway station. All buses will be re-routed.

Saturday

A number of area roads will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to noon in order to accommodate the Pride and Remembrance Run:

The formation starting line will be at Wellesley Street, east of Church Street, to Jarvis Street.

Route of the run:

  • Westbound of Wellesley Street
  • Northbound of Queen’s Park Crescent east side
  • U-turn at Charles Street
  • Southbound on Queen’s Park Crescent west side
  • U-turn at College Street
  • Eastbound on Wellesley Street

The dispersal/ finish line area will be at Wellesley Street from east of Church Street to Jarvis Street.

A number of rolling road closures will also be in effect starting at 1 p.m. as the annual Dyke March takes place.

  • Carlton Street, from Bay Street to Jarvis Street
  • Yonge Street, from Bloor Street to Gerrard Street
  • Charles Street East, from Yonge Street to Church Street

The Dyke March will begin at 2 p.m, and will proceed along the following route:

  • Start: Carlton Street at Jarvis Street
  • West: Carlton Street
  • North: Yonge Street
  • East: Charles Street East
  • End: George Hislop Park - Charles Street East, just east of Yonge Street

Sunday

The following road closures will be in effect starting at noon on Sunday in advance of the World Pride Parade and closing ceremonies:

  • Yonge Street will be closed from Gerrard Street to Queen Street
  • Dundas Street will be closed from Bay Street to Church Street
  • Victoria Street will be closed from Dundas Street to Shuter Street

The closing ceremonies will begin at 7:30 p.m., and the concert will start at 9 p.m.

All roads are expected to be reopened by approximately 12 a.m. the following day.

The TTC Dundas Street streetcar route will be out of service during the road closures.
