A restaurant fire in Peel Region and a house fire in York Region regions kept firefighters busy overnight.

Fire crews are still working at the scene Tuesday morning after a two-alarm blaze broke out at a restaurant at the Clarkson Village Shopping Centre in Mississauga.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen area, with grease in the vents pushing the flames into the space between the ceiling and the roof.

Fire officials are still looking into the extent of the damage, as stores on either side of the restaurant are in bad shape because of smoke and water. There were no injuries.

Meanwhile, York Regional Police are treating a house fire in Vaughan as a suspicious scene.

The abandoned home on Highway 27 near Kirby Sideroad was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived early Tuesday morning. It took firefighters more than two hours to get the blaze under control.

Police were called to look into possible links to a rash of nearby barn fires in recent weeks.

There's no estimate on damages, but it's believed the house is a write-off. No one was hurt.
