TORONTO -

A special meeting of Toronto city council has voted to dismiss the city's community housing board.

A motion to remove the remaining members of the Toronto Community Housing Corp. board failed to receive the required two-thirds support on Tuesday.

Mayor Rob Ford called on all board members to resign after an auditor's report found thousands of dollars of inappropriate spending and millions in improperly awarded contracts.

Two of four city council members and two tenant representatives refused to bow to the Ford's demand to step down.
