TORONTO - Former teen heartthrob Corey Haim is continuing his comeback bid with a lead role in an action thriller.

Global Universal Pictures, Inc. says the Toronto-based actor will star in `American Sunset,' about `a man that travels to hell and back to save his wife.'

Haim recently returned to the spotlight with a reality show called `The Two Coreys,' alongside former teen star Corey Feldman, and appeared in the Jason Statham action film, `Crank: High Voltage.'

Haim shot to stardom as a teen in such '80s flicks as `The Lost Boys,' `Lucas' and `Silver Bullet' before his career was reportedly derailed by drug addiction.

`American Sunset"s writer/producer, Jackie Giroux, says principal photography is wrapping up now in Canada and that the film will be ready for release in the fall.

Haim's also scored roles in the comedy film, `Shark City,' and the horror flick `New Terminal Hotel.'
