WATERLOO, Ont. - Thousands of students gather today to listen to some inspirational leaders but the politicians may well be the ones to find it inspiring.

Nobel Laureate Al Gore, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Rev. Jesse Jackson are in Kitchener, Ont., for a rally for social change called We Day.

Six thousand students are expected at the one-day event that celebrates the power of young people to change the world.

Organizers say that since 2007, young people who have attended We Day have done two million hours of volunteer work and raised over $10 million.

That work and money has benefited over 500 different charities in communities across Canada.

The Barenaked Ladies, cast members from Degrassi, Shawn Desman and founders of Free The Children, Craig and Marc Kielburger are also expected.

The Kielburgers are also a force behind We Day.

"We Day is a way to make this change possible. It is a celebration, an inspiration and a vehicle for young people to make a difference," Craig Kielburger said in a release.
