Police are investigating after an early morning fire damaged Harold the Jewellery Buyer's store near Bathurst Street and Glencairn Avenue.

A TTC driver spotted flames coming from the gold-buying shop at 2788 Bathurst St. at about 3 a.m. and called 911.

Police say a Molotov cocktail was thrown  through the front window, sparking the blaze.

Officers set up a secure perimeter around the shop because of the valuables inside.

Police told the Toronto Star that the building "sustained heavy damage." Owner Harold Gerstel, however, tells CP24 he plans to reopen on Tuesday.

The jewellery shop was named in a bizarre murder-for hire plot involving a competitor about a month ago.

Police charged a 71-year-old female employee of Harold's in connection with the case.
