L'AQUILA, Italy - At his final news conference at the G8 Summit, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said the controversy surrounding whether or not he consumed a communion wafer at Governor General Romeo LeBlanc's funeral is "ridiculous."

"As a Christian, I have never refused communion when it was offered to me," Harper said.

He said that the story is "really absurd" and is a "terrible story not based on anything." The Prime Minister also said it was a low moment in journalism.

Meanwhile, Harper made reporters crack up at the news conference at the G8 when he made light of the sex scandals surrounding Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

"Like Prime Minister Berlusconi, I have many weaknesses, but they are not the same," he said, as reporters burst into laughter.

Berlusconi is under fire since photos surfaced of topless teenage girls going to parties at his home as well as allegations he frequented prostitutes.
