A man is facing charges after a driver led police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle and then crashed into a second vehicle at a Brampton intersection early Monday.

The driver who fled police was allegedly impaired, Peel Regional Police said.

Police said officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle at about 1:15 a.m., but the driver refused to pull over and took off.

Moments after officers terminated the pursuit, police received a call about a two-vehicle crash at Torbram Road and Steeles Avenue, police spokesman Const. George Tudos told CP24.

A sport utility vehicle flipped onto its roof, while a car sustained damage to its front end and driver's side.

The driver who fled police is facing charges of impaired driving, failing to remain and possession of stolen property, Tudos said.

Tudos said the other driver was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection reopened to traffic at about 6:45 a.m.
