The Juno Awards are headed back to the nation's capital.

For the first time since 2003, the annual music awards gala will be held in Ottawa.

The show, on April 1, 2012, will once again be broadcast on CTV.

The last time the Junos were held in Ottawa, host Shania Twain memorably cycled through a series of hockey jersey-inspired outfits.

The Junos had typically been held in Toronto or Hamilton since their inception in the early '70s, but began venturing out to other Canadian cities with the 2002 show in St. John's, N.L.

This year's 40th anniversary show, during which Montreal's Arcade Fire claimed a leading four awards, was held again in Toronto's Air Canada Centre.

"We're very pleased to return to Ottawa for the first time since 2003's spectacular success of hosting Canada's music awards," said Juno Awards president and CEO Melanie Berry said in a statement.

"We anticipate that for sponsors, fans and the viewing public alike, Ottawa will once again capture the excitement and spirit of celebration that only Canada's capital can deliver."
