TORONTO - Kristen Stewart fans screamed and held up signs of support Thursday night as the embattled actress walked the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival in support of her new movie "On The Road."

It was Stewart's first public appearance since she apologized for a tryst with Rupert Sanders, her married director on "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Stewart had been in a well-publicized relationship with her "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson.

Fans outside the Ryerson Theatre chanted "Kristen, Kristen" and shouted "Kristen, I love you!" to the actress, who wore a glittering Zuhair Murad dress as she chatted with reporters and signed autographs for fans.

Some fans held up her photograph along with the words: "Talent. Beauty. Strength & Courage. We stand by you Kristen always."

Another sign read: "We are always with you Kristen Stewart."
