Going to the bank isn’t always fun, but your dog may insist on it if you live in Vancouver’s West End.
TD Bank has installed an Automatic Treat Machine at its Davie Street branch as part of a pilot project in Canada. The key difference between the Automatic Treat Machine and an ATM used by humans at the bank is that the former substitutes cash for freely dispensed treats.
Dogs simply step onto a pad marked with paw prints in front of the machine, and treats are dispensed into a bowl.
The system is all withdrawals, no deposits, and according to a spokesperson for TD Bank, there’s “no PIN required” at this ATM either.
“To show some love to the four-legged friends who often accompany clients on their banking excursions, TD is continuing to pilot a first-of-its-kind Automated Treat Machine for dogs,” said Mick Ramos, senior manager of corporate and public affairs, in a statement to CTV News.
“The TD Dog ATM is designed just for our furry companions, mimicking the human ATMs at TD branches.”
Ramos said the machine also features a screen that plays video content for canines.
The machine at 1690 Davie St. was installed in late April and is one of just three in Canada.
The project initially launched in Philadelphia and brought Automatic Treat Machines to Toronto in May 2024.
