A section of Highway 401 has reopened east of Oshawa this morning following two collisions, including a fatal crash in Clarington.
The first collision occurred at around midnight in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Bowmanville Avenue.
Four people were taken to hospital, including two who suffered life-threatening injuries.
A second collision involving three transport trucks occurred nearby, near Holt Road, at around 6 a.m.
Ontario Provincial Police said one person injured in this crash was subsequently pronounced dead.
Police said the highway has fully reopened between Courtice Road and Liberty Street South.
