Two men are in hospital, including one in critical condition, after a crash in Uxbridge on Wednesday morning.

Durham police and paramedics were called to the area of York Durham Line and Aurora Road around 7:40 a.m. for a single-vehicle collision.

Police said after crossing the intersection, the vehicle travelling east entered a private road “at a high rate of speed.”

The vehicle then left the road and crashed into a large field, police said.

The driver, a 22-year-old man, and the passenger, a 20-year-old man, were transported to a Toronto trauma centre.

Police said the passenger sustained critical injuries, while the driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5256 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
