A Toronto woman has been charged after more than $30,000 worth of designer sunglasses were stolen from a business at a Pickering mall two months ago.
In a news release, Durham regional police say officers were called to the LensCrafters store inside the Shops at Pickering City Centre, near Kingston Road and Liverpool, at around 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 29.
Police say three female suspects entered the store and stole more than 60 pairs of designer sunglasses before fleeing the scene.
Investigators later identified two of the suspects.
On Oct. 26, police executed a search warrant at a residence near Dundas Street West and Scarlett Road in Toronto, where more than $25,000 worth of the stolen merchandise was recovered.
On Nov. 23, one suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Police have identified the suspect as 33-year-old Carolyn Vanessa Walker, of Toronto. She has been charged with Theft Over $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
She was held for a bail hearing, police said.
In addition, a 17-year-old female from Mississauga is wanted on the same charges and an unidentified third suspect is also wanted for theft over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Investigators are advising the outstanding suspects to turn themselves in, warning that anyone assisting them in evading police may also face charges under the Criminal Code.
