2 men charged in connection with ongoing copper theft in Oshawa

Two men are facing charges in connection with an ongoing copper wiring theft from a business in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police say they concluded their investigation into the theft at a business in the area of King Street East and Charles Street on Dec. 9.

Officers recovered a “large amount of stolen wiring” as a result of their investigation.

In a news release issued Wednesday, police say they charged 56-year-old Andreas Dobershutz, of no fixed address, and 38-year-old Andrew Legault, of Whitby. Both are facing break and enter, and possessing property obtained by crime charges.

Dobershutz is also facing two counts of breach of probation, and Legault faces an additional charge of possession of a schedule 1 substance.

The charges have not been tested in court.

Investigators are asking anyone with additional information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
