Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Ajax suffers life-threatening injuries

Police say a woman was struck at Kingston Road West and Ritchie Avenue just after 11 a.m. She was taken to a Toronto trauma centre in critical condition.

A pedestrian is in the hospital in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle in Ajax on Thursday morning.

According to police, the woman was crossing the road near Kingston Road West and Ritchie Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle that was making a left turn shortly after 11 a.m.

Police said the victim was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where she remains in life-threatening condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, police said.

The cause of the collision is unknown.

“All of these factors are being investigated, but I have nothing substantial that I can give you at the moment,” said Const. Nicholas Gluckstein, when asked if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
