Two men from Toronto are facing numerous charges after a kidnapping and extortion investigation in Ajax.
Durham police said on Oct. 25, 2025, a male victim, who provides transportation services, was contacted to take two people from Ajax to Montreal.
The victim was scheduled to meet with the two men at a prearranged location.
“Upon arrival three males forced the victim into another vehicle while making threats with a firearm,” police said in a news release.
The victim was then driven to an ATM, where he was forced to withdraw cash for the suspects. He was later released by them and did not suffer any physical injuries.
On Feb. 14, Durham police executed search warrants at three homes in Toronto. Two of the three suspects were found and taken into custody.
Victor Antonio Nunez Ceja, 32, from Toronto; and Jose Emmanuel Gonzalez Villa, 32, from Toronto, have both been charged with kidnapping, extortion, robbery, point firearm, and occupy motor vehicle with firearm.
Police did not have an identity or description for the third suspect.
