Durham Regional Police say two teens are facing a combined 25 charges after an attempted arson at an Oshawa business.
According to police, at around 4 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, officers responded to a report of an armed person at a business in the area of Simcoe Street South and Bruce Street.
“Police learned that two male suspects arrived at the location in a black Honda and approached the storefront. One suspect used a hammer to break the front door glass, while the second suspect attempted to ignite an incendiary device,” police said in a news release.
A short time later, police said they arrested both suspects in the area of King Street East and Ritson Road. Police said both suspects were wanted on outstanding warrants by “several” police services at the time of their arrest.
According to police, a 16-year-old boy from Scugog and a 16-year-old male from Toronto are facing several charges, including arson, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and disguise with intent.
